I Am Me

Written by Antonio De Villar
Title: “I Am Me”

I am different.
I am me.

I am restless, wandering through the shadows of what I thought I knew.
But I was blind to your true shape,
the mask you wore so effortlessly.

My past was a battlefield etched into my skin.
Every time I look down, I see the scars,
old wounds whispering the stories I tried to bury.
Lying on the floor with blood-streaming tears,
I tasted the iron of heartbreak,
those red rivers born from a shattered soul.

Black… black… black and blue.
You struck until I felt nothing,
until numbness curled itself around my bones.
And in the dark, my demon rose again,
clawing at the edges of my sleep,
dragging me back into the places
I swore I’d never return.

Emotions surged like storms without a shore:
anger, hurt, joy, despair, love…
all colliding, spinning,
pulling me back and forth in opposite directions.
A drowning contradiction,
never settling, never silent.

I was a prisoner with no visible chains,
bound by things that had no weight,
yet could suffocate me just the same.
Like a moth to a flame,
I kept flying toward what burned me,
knowing only I was to blame.

But now—
I am different.
I am me.
I am light.
I am free.
