"Since That Time"

Since That Time

I never had to search for you—
you’ve always been there,
a whisper resting
in the quiet corners of my soul.

Since my childhood,
since that time,
you’ve lived within the silence
between my heartbeats.

I never had to wander the streets,
nor seek you in schools,
on beaches,
or in the restless air—
you were always waiting,
hidden in the pages of my books,
burning softly
in the fire that gave me life.

Since my youth,
I have known you.
I have waited.

The essence of your skin—
I could feel it in the wind,
in the tender ache of dawn.
Every step I took
carried the trace of your spirit,
as if destiny itself
was leading me home.

When I slept,
I dreamed your breath beside me.
When I awoke,
your name lingered on my lips.

I knew you since that time—
your voice echoed through the wind,
calling me gently,
reminding me of what has always been.

I knew you,
since that time—
before the stars were named,
before the world began to spin.
